Do You Speak Celsius?

If, like me, you grew up in the U.S., you probably still think and speak in "Fahrenheit." However in France and other European countries, when they talk about the weather, they "speak Celsius."

A Little History

According to Wikipedia, the Celsius scale was invented in 1742 by Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius — although the version he came up with originally was "reversed" from the scale in use today.

The Basics

If you are converting Celsius to Fahrenheit, you would use this formula:
[°F] = [°C] × 9⁄5 + 32

From Fahrenheit, use this formula to arrive at the corresponding Celsius temperature:
/[°C] = ([°F] − 32) × 5⁄9
